Confetti

For all its simplicity, thousands of colored iridescent fragments launched into the air can make the atmosphere truly festive. But behind the bright one-time effect lies a great danger - pollution with garbage, which is difficult to filter out and impossible to recycle.

What it is made of?

  • Paper confetti - rectangles of 3-4 cm, made of special ultralight paper (density 15-18 g / sq. m), which allows confetti to stay in the air for a long time, spinning and slowly crumbling, like thick snow. The paper is additionally impregnated with a non-flammable solution and painted in bright, juicy colors. 1 kg of confetti contains about 50 thousand individual elements.

  • Metallized or foiled confetti is not made of foil, but of a special thinnest and lightest PVC film / polypropylene, on which aluminum spraying is applied, after which it is painted in various colors. Metallized confetti is more spectacular than paper confetti, especially when it glitters and shimmers in bright light, but it is more difficult to clean the room from such confetti.

  • Mini confetti is 2 or 3 times smaller than the classic one. Small confetti is produced only in a metallized version, 1 kg contains approximately 500 thousand elements.

  • Serpentine - both metallized and paper are available.

Reuse

Disposable material, it is almost impossible to collect confetti/streamers for reuse.

Recycle

The paper/film used to make confetti/streamers can be recycled. Theoretically. However, it is difficult to collect and separate confetti/ streamers from other debris on the site. Therefore, collected by cleaning mops, confetti / serpentine is sent directly to the landfill, where, due to the lack of contact with earth, water and sunlight, the paper almost does not decompose, and the film becomes microplastic and does not decompose for hundreds of years.

Alternative

We recommend to abandon the versions made of paper/film in favor of more environmentally friendly materials:

  • Confetti made of water-soluble paper - it will be easy to get rid of it after the event by simply pouring it with water. A good option for outdoor use. However, dyes have been added to the color, which, when dissolved in water, can leave traces.

  • Confetti made of natural materials - dried and fresh leaves and petals.

  • Alternative shows - soap bubble shows, light shows.
