Eco-friendly event rules

Writer: after-party.proafter-party.pro

The world is screaming about an environmental disaster. And the event sector takes a huge part in it. Mass events with disposable decorations and handouts, tons of garbage and plastic, confetti and balloons, of course, damage the environment.

But this does not mean at all that we should here and now give up all entertainment and holidays. Quite the opposite. The trend for environmentally friendly events is gaining momentum more than ever, and we will tell you what you need to do to get into it.

  • Digitalization is everything to us.

Online registration, electronic handouts, monitors with electronic presentations instead of banners, projectors instead of props, electronic questionnaires instead of paper questionnaires, mobile applications instead of printing - all this will help not only minimize the harm caused to the environment, but also contribute to effective networking and gamification events.

  • Choose your contractors responsibly.

You will be surprised, but the environmental trend is gaining momentum not only among activists, but also among contractors. Choose those who convey and use the principles of sustainable development.

  • Choose healthy foods.

More and more companies and organizers are choosing quality products from local producers (more details here). Replace sandwiches and canapes with fruits and vegetables, instead of buns and cakes - nuts and healthy sweets made from honey, cocoa and coconut. The choice of catering cuisine is now huge; many catering companies specialize in healthy food.

  • Avoid plastic utensils.

Of course, mass events for several hundred people cannot take place without coffee breaks. The pile of plastic cups left behind will take more than 100 years to decompose. Using reusable dishes for such a number of participants is problematic, if not impossible. But there are alternatives made from bamboo, wood, cardboard, corn, sugar cane and a host of other eco-friendly and degradable materials. We wrote about them here.

  • Try food sharing.

The most environmentally friendly solution for disposing of surplus food and prepared food is food sharing. Contact companies and foundations that distribute food to the poor, or give excess food to event participants to take home.

  • Use live scenery.

How many cut flowers do we throw away after large events? No wedding is complete without flower arrangements and decorations. Many flower companies offer rentals of living potted arrangements, hanging vines of dried flowers, blooming buds and even mini-florariums of succulents, creating the effect of a real garden. This is not only unusual, but also very beautiful.

  • Use the sun.

At least partially switch to using solar panels, panels, lanterns and garlands. Believe me, your responsible attitude towards natural resources will not go unnoticed.

  • Use useful gifts and souvenirs, or discard them completely.

We have already written about what “green” souvenirs are; they will be an excellent alternative to ordinary branded gifts, which are often thrown into the trash immediately after the event.

Another great way to do something pleasant and useful is to motivate people to do good deeds. Offer event participants an activity where the main prize will be helping environmental funds, sponsor the landscaping of parks and forests, and help endangered species of animals. Any participant will be pleased to benefit the planet.

  • Tell and show.

Your audience should know that you support the environment, and that this is of great importance to your business. This way you will not only achieve the loyalty of your target audience, but also attract new ones.
